Three years ago skimming through Facebook I came across Chester, an elderly ginger cat looking for his forever home. I fell in love instantly and after visiting the Sanctuary and a home check we duly adopted Chester. A week later a follow up call came from Myra the office manager to check how he was settling in. During the conversation I was asked if I was interested in volunteering now I was retired. Since then I have run the office on Tuesdays and become involved with the Fundraising Committee who plan a variety of successful events throughout the year. The Sanctuary also wanted to develop the educational side so Sarah (the manager) and I visit local schools to deliver talks on our work and the needs of the animals in our care, and in doing this have built up good relationships and they have often fund raised for us. As an Educational Committee we have devised information leaflets about the care of animals which are freely available to all.

It has been wonderful to be part of a team (family) and see the progress of many animals. In fact I have even got my husband to be part of this merry band by becoming one of the Monday Men who help with so many jobs around the Sanctuary.
